Successful dynamic trading strategies involve extensive research, up-to-the-second pricing knowledge, and expert trade selection and management. As a SALT client you’ll have the benefit of all this through your own Trade Adviser. SALT Advisers offer a friendly, professional service you’ll find a breath of fresh air, and they’re on duty whenever the markets are open so you can trade with confidence.
Our experienced team of market analysts combine macro-economic research and top down examination of market and company fundamentals with technical analysis to identify potential trades.
Precision and patience are key - we constantly seek to improve our trade identification and selection process, rigorously testing and refining new ideas and strategies. Each trade is evaluated within the context of existing open positions and prevailing market conditions to ensure the trading strategy is balanced.
Trading ideas are delivered by your Trade Adviser over the phone, and through our secure client portal and mobile apps. And we don’t stop there - based on their knowledge of your investment profile and objectives, your Trade Adviser will work with you to build and manage a customised portfolio specifically for you. They’ll monitor market movements throughout the trading day, keeping you informed every step of the trading process and never placing a trade without your consent.
At SALT, we trade equities (shares) listed on the FTSE 100, Euro Stoxx 50 and S&P 100.
We focus on shares with large market capitalisations because they are very liquid – in other words, easy and cost effective to trade. This is important because our active trading strategy employs leverage, which gives the potential for higher profits or losses from an initial investment than more traditional trading approaches.
SALT trades principally through instruments called Contracts for Difference (CFDs). CFDs offer a way to capitalise on price movements without holding the asset directly, giving the opportunity to profit from both rising and falling prices. CFDs are leveraged, which means that you deposit only a fraction of the value of your position to trade. This leverage has the effect of exaggerating your profits and losses.
At SALT we take a cautious approach to using leverage, typically trading at 10:1, meaning that you deposit £1,000 to open a trade with a value of £10,000. Your profit or loss will be the change in value of the trade (i.e. the change in value on the £10,000 position) minus the costs of trading commission and overnight financing.
